Ryan Chan possesses the unique features required to be an instructor of such a special class as ''Strategies and games”. As a youngster, Ryan has had an insatiable interest in problem solving, strategy and puzzles. He accredits his achievements and high marks in academics to this (received an academic score of 2230 out of 2400 on the SAT, and a 34 out of 36 on the ACT. He holds medals at both the regional and state competition levels on the varsity Science Olympiad). As a result of his efforts, he was accepted as a student to the college of his dreams; The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

As a young man, he is an excellent example for kids regarding how to achieve their goals. He is an avid chess enthusiast and excels at teaching chess. He can solve the Rubik's cube in a minute, and knows all popular strategies at a high level.
